Grace Rosario Perkins
Grace Rosario Perkins is a self-taught Diné/Akimel O’odham painter interested in disassembling her personal narrative through layered words, objects, colors, and signs. She is currently represented by Bockley Gallery, Minneapolis.
Starting Out
In her grant application, Grace described her intent to create a large-scale sculptural work that would translate familial memory and collective movement into physical form.
Grace at the Whitney Museum
Guests gathered in New York for a private viewing of Circles, Spokes, Zigzigs, Rivers, Grace Rosario Perkins’ new exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art, followed by an intimate reception at Lei Wine Bar. The evening celebrated Grace’s distinctive voice within contemporary Indigenous art and the culmination of a sculptural project first envisioned in her proposal to the Walker Youngbird Foundation.
That vision now anchors her Whitney presentation: a powerful expression of kinship, reclamation, and continuity across generations.
The gathering reflected both the intimacy and depth of Grace’s practice. Artists, curators, and supporters came together to honor her contribution and the growing visibility of Native voices within major cultural institutions. The night served as a reminder of the importance of sustained, intentional support for artists whose work expands and reshapes the narrative of contemporary art.
